MMA’s D’Bag Spotlight: Junie Browning
It’s been a while since I’ve gone on a rant about a particular fighter just being a total D’Bag. I think the last one was Kit Cope back when he was talking smack about my girl Gina. So I feel it is fitting to bring it back around and dust it off for the one and only Junie Browning. Anyone who watches MMA I am sure has heard of this guy before. He was a fighter on the 8th season of TUF and for a lack of a better word was utterly insane. He threw cups at other fighters, couldn’t stop getting drunk, would talk smack about anyone and anything and lots of other crazy stuff. To top it all off he wasn’t even that good. I mean sure he made it through two rounds in the tournament but they were both to easy guys. Times have been bad for Junie recently first losing to Cole Miller in his last match and then going ape s*** against some nurses leading to his dismissal from UFC.
According to reports Junie had attempted to commit suicide after his girlfriend had broken up with him, his friends being concerned took him to the hospital where he then went on to harass a female nurse and then physically assault two male nurses attempting to restrain him. The biggest question I have is not what you think. It’s not why did he do something so stupid or what was he thinking? But instead I’m wondering how a lightweight fighter who claims to be really good at what he does can’t take on two male nurses? No offense to male nurses but come on…their nurses.What is it with fighters and going absolutely insane after some form of disappointment? Rampage after losing his title drove over stuff with his truck, BJ Penn after his loss started rambling off conspiracy theories making Joe Rogan look like a rank amateur, and now we have Junie Browning to add to the list with his total collapse.
Listen Junie there are plenty of fish in the sea. I’m sure it hurts to get dumped, it’s not fun, I get it. However, taking a load of pills and then blowing your best opportunity to make it in life has got to be one of the stupidest things I have seen done since Jesse Taylor went on a bender costing him his spot in the TUF 7 finale. Did you really think Dana was going to give you another chance? He literally bent over backwards to keep you on TUF because he saw great potential in you. You were given gifts time and time again. Am I being a bit tough and cold to Junie? Yes I am, but that still doesn’t change the fact I’m right. If there is one thing that I can’t stand it’s seeing opportunity being wasted. You had opportunities that hundreds of fighters would kill for and you threw it all away. My advice to you Junie, take a break, clean yourself up, get back in the gym, and do what you were meant to do which is fight because I can’t see you in an office space job without going postal and killing everyone in sight.
