As Rampage goes off the deep end, do we even want him back?

Let me start by saying I love Rampage. I do, I really do. It’s not that I look forward to writing bad things about him. However, after his most recent blog post I can’t help but comment….again. The MMA world this year has had plenty of great moments. Moments that have shocked us, made us think, and made us talk. Rampage himself has been the focus on several of those moments, and I think it is safe to say that we are coming up on another one. Once I break down Rampage’s blog, you will all see as I have, how this is the moment where I think that Rampage has officially gone off the reservation.
It honestly is hard to decide where to start and how much to comment on because there is so much. Let’s start with the stuff that makes Rampage look good. Rampage makes a comment on how the slogan of “need to beat the champ to be the champ” is played out. On this I will agree with him. Rampage has a very solid point on the double standard that happened in this match v.s what happened between him and Forrest. If Shogun gets to have this automatic rematch from such a close decision, it is by no means unreasonable that Rampage should have gotten an immediate rematch against Forrest for their close decision. This is the only part of the blog where Rampage has any form of mental reason. After this, it completely and utterly goes downhill.
He talks about how the guys from the A-team were starting to get into MMA and that after watching 104 with Rampage, they had nothing good to say about the sport to which Rampage said he was ashamed. If that’s true Rampage, then you were never proud of it to begin with. If you are gonna let people who never liked or got into the sport come in, watch one match, and then tell you how bad your sport is then I am ashamed at YOU for not better defending the sport that gave you such a great start to your career. Hell, you didn’t even need to argue, you just had to ignore these guys. You can agree that the match was bad or boring, that’s fine. But you let these people condemn everything in it after seeing only a fraction of the big picture?
It gets even better. Then Rampage goes into how he was glad that the fight showed what a bi*** Rashad was and that now it makes sense why TUF needs to make Rashad look good, since for the UFC it’s all about selling tickets. He then divulges back into the whole conspiracy theory of TUF to make him look bad and Rashad look good, that his fighters should stop blaming him, and that the UFC-TUF fans apparently can’t tell the difference between a TV show and reality. He sums it up simply with “Rampage is real and straight up & Rashad is fake as hell”. Ok first of all referring yourself in the third person just makes you look stupid when you are trying to profess your “realness”. Two, Bitter party of one? Bitter? I mean honest to God. Someone is clearly defensive. I mean Rampge, you complained about all of this how long ago? Who are you trying to convince here?
It is also not surprising that once again you make it all about you Rampage. How you saw all of Machida’s weaknesses, that you would have done better, that everyone is out to get you, and that the UFC wasn’t fair to you. We get it Rampage, you are the best fighter on earth, all hail you. I’m not saying I could beat you in a fight, I’d get my a** kicked for sure, but I at least don’t play the victim all the time. You can play the victim all you want Rampage, but take it from me it’s not helping your case. You aren’t gaining any fans, if anything you are just losing them. After it’s all said and done with the bitterness, paranoia, and downright meanness I have to ask the MMA community. Do we even want Rampage back in the UFC? Cause right now, I don’t.
